Wall Street Journal Sheds Front Page Spotlight on Hilton Head Island Business
Pulitzer Prize-winning paper highlights Tactical Baby Gear, the brainchild of local entrepreneur Beav Brodie.
Hilton Head Island, SC, Nov. 11, 2017 – The Wall Street Journal, the largest newspaper in the country by circulation, recently used its front page to shine the spotlight on a bold new trend being pioneered by Hilton Head Island-based Tactical Baby Gear.
“Dads Are Manning Up With Military Style-Baby Gear” read the front-page headline story, which made extensive mention of Tactical Baby Gear’s founder, Beav Brodie, as well as the company’s ingenious line of baby products for guys.
“Dads can attach different accessories, such as Tactical Baby Gear’s ‘dump pouch.’ The gun-range version of the pouch is meant to hold used ammunition. The baby version holds a different sort of dump,” the story read, name-dropping a product designed right here on Hilton Head Island.
The story, penned by WSJ Staff Reporter Corinne Ramey, highlighted a trend toward more masculine baby gear, from diaper bags to carriers. This trend sees baby accessories skewing away from the frilly, pink-and-blue-hued bags of yesterday in favor of more rugged, guy-friendly designs. Tactical Baby Gear has been on the front lines of this trend since the company’s humble beginnings in Brodie’s garage, helping it to grow from a home business to an international online-order and social media phenomenon.
“Growing this company has been my driving passion for 5 years now,” said Brodie. “To see the countless hours of work recognized by a major media outlet like The Wall Street Journal, on the front page no less, really motivates us to take this company to the next level.”

ABOUT TACTICAL BABY GEAR
Founded on Hilton Head Island in 2013, Tactical Baby Gear aims to end diaper-bag emasculation with a full range of diaper bags, backpacks, carriers and accessories built with tactical style and field-tested utility in mind.
Frustrated with the frilly, pastel-hued diaper bags available to him when preparing for the birth of his first daughter, founder Beav Brodie decided to make his own, using the design principles and military-grade construction of tactical gear used by our military and first responders. The success of this first bag led to an expansion of the product line into carriers, accessories and patches.
The result is the world’s finest baby gear, ready to help guys the world over answer the call of daddy. Learn more at www.tacticalbabygear.com, or follow Tactical Baby Gear on Instagram, subscribe on YouTube and like on Facebook for regular contests, updates and content.
