As you may have seen on our social media, some of our team recently had the great idea to jump out of a perfectly good airplane. Why did we do this? Probably some unaddressed childhood trauma that manifests itself in death defying stunts designed to gain the attention and admiration of our peers. Or possibly in honor of Jade’s birthday. Sources differ.

At any rate, Travis took some awesome pictures, there were hamburgers and hot dogs, and a good time was had. We asked the survivors some questions about their experience.

"I am afraid of heights and falling out of the sky so I wanted to skydive! "

Why did you want to go skydiving?

It has been on my bucket list for years. I used to be terrified of roller coasters, I conquered that fear. I am afraid of heights and falling out of the sky so I wanted to skydive!

What was your favorite part of the day?

All of it!! It was probably the craziest thing I have ever done.

My top three moments were:
Dangling my feet out of the plane right before barrel rolling out (I was pretty scared at that point).

The instructor let me control the parachute! 
Just flying around and making hard turns with the parachute… Like a bird!! 

Oh, and hanging out in a cloud!

What surprised you about it?

How long we flew around with the parachute! We just floated around in the sky! 

Oh, and how normal it was for the instructors! They get to fly for a living! So cool.

Would you do anything different next time?

Keep my eyes open when we first jump out of the plane! I closed my eyes for the first couple seconds because I was nervous! 
I would also ask the instructor if he can do any extra tricks with me! More crazy turns with the parachute!

Will you do it again?

Absolutely!

Why did you want to go skydiving?

In all honesty, I only went because Beav asked. I thought he was joking when he asked if I wanted to jump out of a plane, but it wasn’t until the next week when I realized I had agreed to jump off a plane

Are you sure it wasn’t because you have a death wish?

I just saw it as adventure knocking on my door, and I didn’t want to pass an opportunity.

What was your favorite part of the day? 

The whole day was pretty great, but my favorite part was the feeling of being in free fall and my body never having felt anything like that. 



What surprised you about it?

I was shocked most about the fact that the temperature change is so fast. It went from being so cold to being warm.
Also, my ears popping like they did.

Would you do anything different next time? 

If I ever did it again. I would go with family, and close friends. I would love to see their experience. It is definitely a once in a lifetime thing.

Why did you want to go skydiving? 

Jade intimidated me into it. She was all in my face “are you going come on let’s go you have to do it” and I decided skydiving was less scary than Jade.

Are you sure it wasn’t because you have a death wish? 

There was probably some of that too.

What surprised you about it? 

The sensation of falling wasn’t what I expected. It was fun, but I don’t think my brain entirely registered what was going on. I also had no concept of time from the time we left the plan until the ground. Could have taken 3 minutes, could have taken 30. I’m still not sure.

Would you do anything different next time? 

I would take Dramamine. Like, a lot of it. The second that chute opened my stomach lurched and from there to the ground the instructor and I were both just praying I didn’t throw up all over him. (I didn’t.)

Will you do it again? 

Travis is already pressuring me, and we all know how well I hold up to that… 


Beav didn’t jump? What’s up with that!?

Beav was up in the cockpit taking pictures. I think he was secretly hoping something would happen to the pilot so he would have a reason to solo jump. Pretty sure he’s already looking for an excuse to get us back down to GA so he can take the leap.
